Colangelo rockets to the top of the World Rankings after victory in Rome

Italy’s Luca Colangelo (SC Fiamme Azzurre) has rocketed up five places in the latest FISTF World Ranking to lead the Open category after his victory in the World Cup final in Rome.

He replaces Greece’s Dimitrios Dimopoulos (Proteas Athens SC) who was eliminated in the quarterfinals in Rome.

Colangelo’s World Cup final opponent — the 2018 winner Matteo CICCARELLI (TS Napoli Fighters) was a big mover in the rankings, moving up 53 places to #24.

In the Veterans category, Daniel SCHEEN (ST Stembert) maintains his position and impressive lead in the points, despite dipping out in the round of 16 in Rome.
World Champion Gianfranco CALONICO (Master Sanremo) moved up to second place, while Lazaros PAPAKONSTANTINOU (Atlas FTC) is third after his semi final appearance in Rome, maintaining a slight edge over his victor in Rome, Malta’s Jason Pisani (Bormla SC) who is fourth.

Women’s world champion Eleonora BUTTITTA ( SC Bagheria) moved up eight places to 5th in the women’s ranking, while Françoise GUYOT (FRA/Elan SC Champs) took the number one spot after her semifinal placing in Rome.

Eleftheria PAPANIKOLAOU (GRE/Glyfada United TSC) who was eliminated in the group phase in Rome, lost her top spot but is now second in the ranking.

Leandros SOURLAS (GRE/Larissa TFC) who won the U20 title in Rome, moved 54 places in the ranking to 5th, while the player he beat in the semifinal, Corentin BOUCHEZ (BEL/Avenir Subbuteo Hennuyer) holds on to top spot.

In the Under 16 category, Francesco BORGO (ITA/Subbuteo Casale) victory over teammate Giorgio GIUDICE (ITA) catapulted him 26 places into overall second place, with Belgium’s Noah Denne still on top, despite his quarterfinal loss to Giudice in Rome.

In the Under 12 rankings there were no changes at the top, with Maximos DI MAGGIO (GRE) and Michaelis CHIOTIS (GRE) retaining the #1 and #2 places, but Rome world champion Edoardo LANDI (ITA)  roared up 36 places to #3.
