Tsangouris and Devreese won Wattrelos Satellite respectively in Open and U16 categories

Following a successful first edition during the 2024-2025 season, the Wattrelos club, founded by the courageous and affable Sébastien Sorge, confirmed its momentum by organising this second satellite tournament, bringing together a strong field of 47 players from Belgium, Germany, and several regions of France. Once again, the event offered exciting play, suspense, and impressive performances, particularly in the knockout stages.

Open: A Competitive Draw to the Very End

In Open category, from the quarterfinals onward, the level of competition significantly increased with the presence of experienced players accustomed to major tournaments. These included Pierre De Leeuw (Racing White Woluwé Subbuteo/BEL), Stylianos Tsangouris (Atlas FTC/GRE), and Joffray Laurent (SC Lion’s Eugies/BEL), all of whom performed well in the group stages. But also Yves Peremans (SC Flanders/BEL), Ludovic Midoux (Avenir Subbuteo Hennuyer/FRA), Edin Mulasmajic and Fred Elesbao (SG ’94 Hannover/GER), as well as the young French talent Louis Soret (Avenir Subbuteo Hennuyer/FRA).

In the semi-finals, the intensity rose even higher. The matches became more balanced, often tight and highly tactical. The more experienced players demonstrated their composure in the decisive moments, notably Laurent and Tsangouris, who imposed their control of the game on De Leeuw and Mulasmajic.

The final offered a great clash of two styles, concluding a high-quality Open tournament. It was Tsangouris, Laurent’s former teammate, who secured the victory by the narrowest of margins.

U16: The Next Generation Rises

The U16 category featured a five-player mini-league, with exciting matches full of promise for the future.

The final, composed entirely of SC Lion’s Eugies players, showcased this new generation, capable of playing attractive football while maintaining maturity in key moments. Brandon Devreese secured a decisive 3-0 victory against his clubmate, Mael Denne.

With this second edition, the Wattrelos club confirms its ability to organize high-quality competitions. The friendly atmosphere, smooth organization, and high level of play further enhance the appeal of this event.

This satellite tournament has now become a highly anticipated event on the calendar, and there is no doubt that future editions will continue this momentum and perhaps even move up to a higher tournament category in the coming seasons.
