Update on World Cup processes

With the World Cup just over 3 weeks away, the FISTF Board wishes to remind MNAs/MNA-Ps about some important processes and deadlines outlined in the World Cup Handbook to ensure that the final participants and the draw are finalised efficiently and transparently.
In particular, in case there are any late withdrawals by players currently included in the main draw, the organisers need to know whether players currently listed as reserves in each individual category are still available to be included in the main draw should that be necessary.
All players whose names were submitted by their nations are considered to be registered and must follow the regulations. This includes both players included in the draw as well as those currently listed as reserves.
Please note that the first deadline mentioned below (that is, two weeks before the World Cup), is 6 September 2024.
If players are intending on NOT travelling because they were not selected in the draw and are only listed as reserves, we need to know this ASAP and, if possible, by no later than 6
September 2024.
Of course, we also need to know ASAP and before 6 September at the latest, whether players/teams who ARE included in the draw no longer intend to travel to the World Cup. It
should be noted that there are penalties for Teams and Individuals included in the draw who withdraw without giving sufficient notice, as outlined in section 2.2.4 of the World Cup Handbook.

Teams Event:
(i) Withdrawal without giving early notice of at least two weeks: 30 EUR per team.
(ii) Withdrawal in the last 5 days before the competition: 50 EUR per team.
(iii) Withdrawal in the last 48 hours before the scheduled start of the competition: 100 EUR per team and suspension of the withdrawn team from the next World Cup.
(iv) Additionally, National teams which leave the competition without playing their scheduled games will be awarded no world ranking points from the World Cup  (except for cases of huge delays of competition schedule or where a delay in competition may result in the players missing their travel home on the same day).
A delay in competition may cause missing travel home on the same day (e.g.: Saturday or Sunday). If players stay overnight and travel home the next day (e.g.: Monday), they shall stay at the event and play and show respect to fellow competitors.

Individuals
(i) Withdrawal without giving an early notice of at least two weeks: 15 EUR.
(ii) Withdrawal in the last 5 days before the competition: 25 EUR.
(iii) Withdrawal in the last 48 hours before the scheduled start of the competition: 50 EUR, deduction of 100 world ranking points and suspension from the next
World Cup.
(iv) Additionally, players who leave the competition without playing their scheduled games will be awarded no world ranking points from the World Cup. (except for cases of huge delays of competition schedule or where a delay in competition may result in the players missing their travel home on the same day)

Please note: If an individual player listed only as reserve withdraws after 6 September, their MNA will not be penalised, but we nonetheless seek your cooperation in advising us of any withdrawals as soon as possible for the reasons outlined above.
