No brotherly love in Ludwigsburg as Wolfgang Haas wins Open

Wolfgang Haas (TSC Royal 78/AUT) went unbeaten to claim the German GP Open final against his brother and clubmate Alexander 3-1.

His toughest win was a 3-2 sudden death win against Remi Soret (Hennuyer/FRA).

Losing semi finalists were Geoffrey Marain (Hennuyer/BEL) and Jurgen Balzan (Stembert/MLT).

Italy’s Gianfranco Calonico (Master Sanremo/ITA) took the Veterans final 1-0 in sudden death against Jason Pisani (Bormla/MLT).

Losing semifinalists were Frank Stiller (Master Sanremo/GER) and Pierre De Leeuw (Bormla/BEL).

Lea Despretz (Hennuyer/BEL) beat Melina Scheen (Stembert/BEL) 6-2 in the women’s final, ahead of and Melanie Kronmuller (Hopfigheim/GER).

The U20 event was claimed by Lucas Pere (Hennuyer/BEL), defeating Lea Despretz 3-1 in the final.

Pere beat Melina Scheen 4-1 in the semi final, with Despretz beating Oli Ollnow (Berlin/AUS) 1-0 in the other semi, turning around her earlier 2-0 loss to the young Aussie.

In the U16, Louis Soret (Hennuyer/FRA) beat Benjamin Marain 4-3 in sudden death. Soret beat Noah Wulff 5-0 in their semi final, while Marain beat Jerome Cyganek 4-3.
