Only one candidate : M. Steve Dettre from Australia

Candidature proposals of M. Steve Dettre

More work still needs to be done to modernise FISTFs operations.
The main one is for a usable, online database and system to allow nations to enter and  manage players and clubs; to create event registration and enter results; and to manage world ranking.
We also need to work to better set up competitions globally and to train players to play correctly.
We also need to work further to make our sport accessible, by working with the various manufacturers to have ‘starter sets’ available in stores, not just on-line.
I am also keen to work with the Sports Director to establish a referee’s course and certificate, to encourage ALL players to do the test.

A better communication for 2020-2024

In general, FISTF communication flows in two directions.

  • Information from FISTF to its members
  • Information from its members to FISTF

For the information from FISTF, different platforms are being currently used, such as fistf.com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.).
For the information from FISTF members, they are recurring to official FISTF Forms, mostly Word Files and Excel Files.
Although, this method was a big improvement in the past, this situation does not allow any direct integration with any database and it demands some effort from the nations and the FISTF Board members, which can create some errors and misunderstandings on the received data.
FISTF needs to improve the relation with nations, organizers, clubs and players, and for that purpose, it requires betting on better and more modern technology and the definition of more agile administrative processes.
Main requirements are:

  • A centralized database
  • A custom application that allows to manage all FISTF related information
  • Online services that allows FISTF members submit own data (FISTF Forms and Applications) in a more easy way.

In terms of technology, there different choices in the market with different monetary costs. However, it is possible to get a solution inside the STF community in order to lower expenses with such solution:

  • Use of open source technology and free tools
  • Software development internally by FISTF
  • Small investment on a cloud-hosting platform for the database and application server.

The STF Application shall fulfil some requirements that allows:

  • FISTF officials managing data related with FISTF members (Confederations, Member Nation Associations, Clubs, Players and others)
  • MNA representatives managing own data (Clubs, Players, competitions) by having tools in order to submit it into the FISTF database
  • Organizers managing own tournament data and submit match results into de FISTF database
  • Clubs/players sending their registrations to tournaments
  • Online fees payments to FISTF
  • Public data query from the FISTF database.

This shall be the path to follow in communication terms.

Candidature proposals of M. Mike Sgro

Pos.1: My vision for FISTF media is to have a strong, consistent social media presence. FISTF should broadcast to the three biggest major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook & Twitter) simultaneously.

Pos.2: Branding is another large issue and I want to work together to enhance FISTF’s brand assets (logos, website, letterhead, etc). I am a graphic designer by trade and want to work with the community to represent FISTF with a more cohesive brand.

Pos.3: Original content such as articles and blog pieces are another large component of my proposition. These drive traffic to FISTF social media pages and websites, and are what search engines look for when showing a user results of their searches. I have experience writing articles and can contribute in this respect as well.

Only one candidate : M. Jurgen Balzan from Malta

Candidature proposals of M. Jurgen Balzan

I, Jurgen Balzan, FISTF no. MLT0064, would like to present my candidature for Vice-President – Director Development and these are my propositions.

National Associations and Clubs should introduce the sport in their local schools or other sport academies to encourage and increase in youths while giving the sport more exposure. Also encourage clubs to form partnerships with other sport organisations for sharing of facilities and youth intake. All
National Associations and if possible, even Clubs should elect a Youth Development Director to form part of their respective committees. They will
be crucial for this project by maintaining contact with the Director of Development about any updates and new ideas that could help this project.

Another proposition is that a new category should be introduced, I think that by making an Under 21 category gives younger players more chance to
improve their level before moving on to the Open category. It is no secret that players are lost in that age group for not being competitive immediately
therefore with the introduction of this new category they will have more time to develop and gain more experience.

Organise courses for table football coaches to deliver professional training, so that our sport will have a more structured and organised way of delivering
training.

  • Against Jurgen Balzan (5%, 1 Votes)

Only one candidate : M. Brandon Lavender from England

Candidature proposals of M. Brandon Lavender

Pos.1: Building on the Gibraltar WC, I’d like to focus on live streaming at least one table from all Majors Events as a trial inc. multi-table for team events. I think publicizing the highest form of the game is the best way to get people excited about the sport, many people, especially in England, have a perception of the sport as “being a toy”, no one realizes that Subbuteo in the ‘pro’ realm is a completely different game. The live streaming ideally will be self-sufficient i.e. production undertaken by FISTF (my background will help in this area.), in association with sponsorship from both Subbuteo manufacturers within the pro game as well as outside sponsorship from some of my sources ideally, as well as relevant outlets.

Pos.2: Following on from Pos1, once we have proof of concept the next stage would be to approach channels such as Eurosport and other similar channels. They show snooker, with sometimes no crowd at all, as well as running, cycling, in my opinion, Subbuteo, if shown properly, is much more
exciting to watch.

Pos.3: Pitch for outside investment into the sport, the government in some cases, as well as people such as barry hearn who has turned darts for example from a pub game into an international televised phenomenon with his investment, tournament prize money, etc.

Pos.4: skateboarding, sports climbing, and surfing were added to the existing 28 Olympic sports. have been added to the Tokyo Olympics 2020
for a ‘trial run’. If in the long term we can achieve this status, even if we were only to make the trial run, or be in the running even, the exposure we
would gain from this would be outstanding, we can build real momentum  off of the previous proposals to get to this stage, I know for certain English
new channels would be very interested in the story.
