Singapore dominated the 5th Asian Cup, held over the weekend in the Merlion City at the Millenia Walk Shopping Mall.
Sponsored by gloal cleaning products company KÄRCHER, as well as Millenia Walk as venue sponsor, and Astrobase and clothing supplier WAGA, the event drew players from Singapore, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Rudy Hesty (Jurong SC) won the prestigious Open category, beating Bernard Lim (SG Lions) 2-1 in sudden death extra time in the final.
SG Lions won the Team Event, beating Jurong in the final 2-1.
Singapore legend Den Mulia claimed the Veterans category, beating national teammate Ashley Tan 2-1, while the Singapore national team won the National team three-way with Australia and Japan.
Australia’s Oli Ollnow (Northern Falcons) denied Singapore a clean sweep of trophies when he won the U19 title, beating Melbourne’s Benjamin Ng 1-0.
Northern Falcons’ Torben Pfister claimed the WASPA Plate event, beating Steve Dettre 1-1 (2-1sh).
