Cedric Garnier won the International Open of Yokohama, his farewell event in Japan before returning to France,
Garnier, from the Tokyo TFC, beat Takafumi Kido (JPN/Sakuragicho TFC) 3-0 in the final.
Cedric has lived in Japan for 10 years, but recently announced and his family would relocate back to France this year.
“He has contributed so much to NOSK,” said Japanese president Kenzo Koi.
“So 15 players was a good number after Corona, as they all wanted to say farewell before his departure.
“We knew this would be his last tournament before leaving Japan.”
Kenzo said that Cedric has confirmed he will continue to play as a Japanese player, because his wife, Mako-san, is Japanese, and both children were born in Japan.
“So there is also a chance he will be back in Japan for visits in the future.”
Kumiko Yamao won the plate event.
