2022-11 – AGM 2022 – Resolution 23 – FISTF Tournament Organisation Handbook

Preamble

9.3. Notes (it should be continuation of 9.2) (Alternative format option added)

Additions in bold

(f) 3 is the minimum number of players/teams in a group
(g) 10 is the maximum number of players/teams in a group
(h) Groups of 4 should be preferred to groups of 3 if possible
(i) Top-2 players/teams in each group are qualified for the following stage. Then the official format of FISTF -listed below- is strongly recommended.
(j) Alternatively, the organizer can put all the winners of the groups in the specific places as described below and draw randomly all the seconds of the groups. In this case, this method should be announced before the start of the tournament.

(Submitted by C Angelinas, FISTF Sports Director)

Angelinas spoke to this and said it was an alternative method of making a draw for the elimination phase is proposed: The organizer can put all the winners of the groups in the specific places as described (in the FISTF tableau) and draw randomly all the seconds of the groups. In this case, this method should be announced before the start of the tournament.
The advantage was again some randomness in the draw. Players from the same group cannot be drawn together in the first elimination round.
This would only apply for the first elimination round (after the barrage) and following rounds would follow the formula of the FISTF tableau.
This method of making a draw is an alternative and not mandatory.
