ROME – Comments from Eirini PATRIKIOU (GRE) and Mélina SCHEEN (BEL) after the group phase of the Ladies Team category at the FISTF World Cup in Rome on Sunday.
Eirini PATRIKIOU (GRE)
On Greece’s experience in the team event:
“We had a very good experience, especially with Italy and France which are the most powerful teams right now. As a team, it was the first time that we participated.”
On how Greece can improve:
“We need a lot of training – more and more and more, especially with the men who are better than us, it will make us better.
“I think if we come more times in the World Cup and other tournaments, we will go much better.”
On what makes France and Italy strong:
“All the girls are more trained and most of them played a lot of years. I played a lot of years too but with Covid pandemic and my work – I am a paramedic – it’s a little bit difficult for me to be trained.”
Mélina SCHEEN (BEL)
On playing against powerhouses France and Italy:
“As you can see, despite the difficulties, I did my best and even if we lost, we learned a lot.
“We need to train more. To have more experience would be good.”
On what she took out of her first World Cup experience:
“I can see that even if a match is difficult, I am able to maintain my level and even improve it.”
