CRANSTON WINS FISTF U.S. INTERNATIONAL OPEN

Daniel Cranston (TSC Black Rose 98 Roma) won the FISTF U.S. International Open on December 7, 2019, in Maryland, USA.

Part of the 26th annual Holiday Silver event, this ASA Major featured 29 players from across the country.

In a tightly contested Open final, Cranston defeated fellow US-based Black Rose teammate Paul Eyes by a score of 2-1. [Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITE4lQamusg].

Gianpaolo Vitulano (Phoenix SC) and Byung Kim (Maryland SC) did well to reach the semifinals.

In the U19 final, Sam Cohen (Maryland SC) beat Mason Lilly (Maryland SC) 2-1.

The weekend also featured an unofficial team competition, won by Colorado SC—led by Team USA World Cup teammates, Zach Walker and Benny Nuger.

Cedric Garnier (Tokyo/jpn) claimed the FISTF Yokohama International Open on the weekend, beating Michael Dupret (Magic Team Tournai/bel) 3-1 in the Open final.

Brandon Lavender co-opted onto FISTF Board

The Board of Directors of FISTF has co-opted Mr Brandon Lavender (ENG) onto the board in the role of Director of Marketing and Promotion per immediate
effect, until his position can be confirmed at the 8th FISTF Congress 2020.
Mr Lavender (ENG0171) works in marketing and promotion in his own company in the music industry, and is comfortable working with all media across magazines, broadcast and web.


Mr Lavender has appeared five times for England at the FISTF world cup and has the full support of the English Subbuteo Association (ESA) in his nomination for the position on the FISTF Board as
advertised.

We look forward to working with him, and hope he can contribute significant projects and ideas to the promotion of our sport.
“I’m extremely happy and excited at the opportunity the FISTF Board has offered me,” Brandon said.
“I looking forward to making a contribution to our wonderful sport.”
FISTF President Steve Dettre said he was delighted that another aspect of the promotion of our sport would be covered on the Board.
“We continue to look to our Member Nations and playing community to help us with various roles to assist the Board,” Steve said.
“We feel sure that Brandon will add a new dimension to the Board.”

Donegal Subbuteo Championship 2019, date 30th Nov/1st Dec.

First event in this season’s Irish Sports Table Football (aka Subbuteo) Championship (TFAi and NITFA), which will consist of six (6) competitions in total. Three will be in hosted in Northern Irland and three in the Republic of Ireland (EIRE). The 2019/20 Irish subbuteo championship is played over 6 events. Donegal subbuteo championship was the first one which was played last on the 30th November 2019. There’ll be futher competitions in Strabane, Derry, Belfast, Dublin and Wexford. Points are awarded for the finishing position for the six events. 1st place gets 50 points, then 36, 24, 18, and the fifth place 12 points from place 6 onwards, the points are allocated in a certain way. If you check out Irish Subbuteo Championship page on Facebook you will see the results and standings from last season’s circuit. It was called the Ulster Championship last season.

Donegal Event:

Eight players played in two groups of four. The top two from the groups progressed to the main event semi finals with the bottom two in each group entering the plate event. Mark Farrell finished top of group A winning all of his 3 matches. Kenny Beggs finished second. Brendan Rodgers finished top of group B with Mark Mc Crossan securing second place and a semi final spot.

Mark Farrell wins the Donegal Subbuteo championship 2019 for the second year in a row and once again takes the lead in this season’s Irish Sports Table Football (aka subbuteo) championship. The two Irish associations will be taking soon activities to develop youth work.

Logo World Cup 2020 Rome

 

Logo for the 2020 FISTF World Cup in Rome revealed 

The Federazione Italiana Sportiva Calcio Tavolo (FISCT), as hosts of the FISTF World Cup 2020, have revealed the World Cup 2020 logo before the Italian Club Championship of Serie A, B and C in which 48 clubs took part on the weekend.
Maurizio Cuzzocrea is the driving force behind the organising committee for the World Cup.
The logo features the famous Capitoline Wolf, depicting a scene from the legend of the founding of Rome. The logo shows a she-wolf suckling the mythical twin founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, on a table football base featuring the Italian flag’s il Tricolore.
FISTF and the whole table football community wishes them great success and we hope that as many FISTF member nations as possible with participate.
More information on the World Cup will be released in coming weeks.

History facts:

Rome will be the 30th WORLD CUP  since 1970, when the first World Cup was played in London (cumulative stats of FISA and FISTF events)

30 years after the 7th Subbuteo FISA World Cup 1990, Rome.

40 years after the 1st Subbuteo FISA European Championship 1980, Rome.

5th time that Italy will be host nation of the world cup since 1990.

Cape Town Open 2019, October 19, 2019

Clinton Gähwiler (Cape Town City TFC) clinches the CT OPEN 2019

A rainy day in Cape Town provided the perfect backdrop to this year’s Open tournament. A
relaxed, fun afternoon, with plenty of laughter, jibes and goals. And a truly fantastic display of the
old Subbuteo equipment and accessories by local collector Brendon!
The final capped it all off – an epic affair, decided ultimately by a dramatic own-goal in the last

shows a positive trend in the Western Cape. FISTF is happy to receive a first competition report
from Southern Africa after some years of break. Well, the Cape is famous for its “Cape of good

Balzan wins Fistf Satellite Bormla SC

Bormla Subbuteo club organized the Bormla SC Satellite with the colaboration of the Cospicua local council at the St George’s band club Cospicua.
On Sunday 13th October the Open category took place after the group stages in the quarter finals Charlie Aquilina of Bormla sc won against team mate John Zammit 2-1, Melvin Barun of Valletta Lions tfc lost against Mauro Camilleri Bormla sc 1-2, Jurgen Balzan of Belgian Team Stembert eliminated Emanuel Camilleri of H’Attard sc 12-1, Josef Camilleri of Bormla subbuteo club won Hector Scerri of Valletta Lions tfc 3-0.
In the semi finals Charlie Aquilina defeated Mauro Camilleri both of Bormla sc 3-0 and in the other semi final Jurgen Balzan of Stembert eliminated Josef Camilleri Bormla sc 2-1. The final saw a great game by both players with Jurgen Balzan gets the win by edging Charles Aqiuilina with the result ending 2-1. The trophies were presented by Mr Martin Vella counsilier for sports in the name of Cospicua Local Council.

Bormla Subbuteo club organized the Bormla sc satellite with the colaboration of the Cospicua local council at the St George's band club .
Sunday open category took place after the group stages in the quarter finals Charlie aquilina of Bormla Subbuteo club won against team mate Tristan Fenech 5-2, Josef Camilleri Bormla sc lost to Jurgen Balzan Stembert sc 2-5, Mauro Camilleri Bormla sc was eliminated by team mate Hansel Mallia 2-5, and another 2 Cospicuan players which saw John Zammit edging George Ebejer 3-2.
In the semi finals Charlie Aquilina defeated Jurgen Balzan 2-0 and in the other semi final 2 Bormla sc players saw Hansel Mallia eliminates team mate John Zammit 3-1,the final saw a great game by Both Bormla sc players Charlie Aquilina gets the win by edging Hansel Mallia with the result ending 4-3 the semi finalists were Jurgen Balzan and John Zammit.

In the consolation Tournament Jamie Bonnici of Palermo ct defeated Mario Fleri Soler Attard sc 4-0 with the Semi finalist both from Attard sc Spencer Conti and Isaac S Camilleri next competition will be another Satelite on the 12/13 October 2019.
