FISTF World Cup 2028 – Final Host Candidate Shortlist and Voting

Following the completion of the formal tender process for the FISTF World Cup 2028, the FISTF Board has conducted a comprehensive evaluation of bids received from Belgium, Italy, Malta and Spain.

The Board has identified the following two candidates as the final shortlist to be presented for Member vote:

• • Belgium
  • Spain

These two proposals were assessed as offering the strongest overall combination of:

1. delivery capability and organisational credibility
2. accessibility for participating nations
3. capacity to support a World Cup at scale
4. alignment with the future development and international profile of the event

The Board considers that both candidates represent strong and viable options for 2028, each aligned with different but complementary strategic priorities for the sport.

Voting

The final decision will now be made by a vote of the Member National Associations, in accordance with FISTF procedures.

We encourage Member Nations to review the attached summary and supporting documentation carefully in advance of the vote. 

There is an opportunity for candidate presentations and/or answers to questions (if required). The board will distribute any further candidate presentations if and when they are received. If your association has any questions for Belgium or Spain, or wishes to view the bid documents submitted by the candidates, please email the Board at board@fistf.com.
