Fantastic work by the Gibraltar association to stage their GP, with England’s Chris Thomas claiming an emphatic victory, beating Gibraltar’s Patrick Dean 6-1 in the final.

Samuel Bartolo won the Maltese knockout competition against John Zammit 2-0 to qualify for the European Championship in Belgium in June.

Massimo Cremona won the Veterans category against Charlie Aquilina 2-1.

On Sunday, the Belgian open cup was staged, with the winner being William Van den Houte from Stembert.

Earlier this year, the Belgian Open Champion was decided in March with Rémy Huynh from Rochefort being victorious.

Kai Hagenkötter claimed the German Championship over the weekend in a fine event organised by the Subbuteo Club Höpfigheim on behalf of the Deutscher Sport-Tischfußball Bund.

Thomas Winkler took the Veterans category, and Vicky Büsing the women’s event.

Panagiotis Krommydas and Melanie Kronmüller, together with Frank Stiller, ran the event and also did the catering!!!  

Well done, and good to see more action in Germany.

The Belgian Subbuteo Table Football Federation statement:
We are pleased to inform you of the different roles and functions of our new federal committee.
The team will do the best to continue the work started by our predecessors and especially to lead it to good!
A new method of organization has been set up: each function will have at least one assistant in order to be more efficient and federate the working group already well reactive and welded!

Daniel Cranston from Maryland won the Flicko de Mayo FISTF International Open and ASA Major on May 18 in Lansing, Michigan.

The current two-time defending national champion and Black Rose Roma player defeated Peter Alegi of Grand Rapids TSC 3-1 in a tightly contested final (watch it here).

Bryan Arnold (NoVA Union SC) and Ilias Gikas (Chicago United TSC) had impressive performances, placing second in their respective groups and reaching the semifinals.

Erik Haefke from Iowa won the WASPA consolation bracket with a solid 4-1 win over Eric Walton of Michigan.

In the team event, Chicago United TSC beat Grand Rapids TSC 2-1 to keep the Great Lakes Cup.

Congratulations to all participants. Thanks for making this year’s tournament a perfect mix of competition and camaraderie. See you in 2020… and an open invitation to players from around the world to join us!!

The congratulations of FISTF and the whole sports table football community to Delphinne Dieudonné, who has been elected as President of the Belgian association.

Delphine, winner of the FISTF Women’s World Cup title an unprecedented 13 times, replaces Vincent Coppenolle, who was also president of FISTF from 2002 to 2010.

Vincent has had a massive contribution to our sport, during his period with Belgium, FISTF and as creator and driving force behind the WASPA concept.

We’re sure he will continue his fantastic efforts for youth development at his club Templeuve United, and we look forward to seeing him across the table.

For Delphine, she takes over in Belgium in a period where more than ever before there is a focus on developing our sport around the world, not only the women’s game.

She becomes the second female president of a FISTF member association, following the election of Daniela Grünberg as president of the German association.

We wish all the best to Delphine and look forward to a positive working relationship.

Austrians won the Open, Veterans and Team event at the International Open of Germany over the weekend of May 4-5.
Wolfgang LEITNER (AUT) won the Open, beating Sébastien SCHEEN (BEL) in the final, with Tony BRAHAM (BEL) and Jerome HYVAERT (BEL) the losing semifinalists.

In the Veterans category it was Erich HINKELMANN (AUT) as the winner, beating countryman David BUSCH (AUT) in the final. Daniel SCHEEN (BEL) and  Jean Michel CUENCA (ESP) were the losing semifinalists.

France’s Stephanie CECILLON took the women’s crown, beating Daniela GRÜNBERG (GER), with Melanie KRONMÜLLER (GER) and Melina SCHEEN (BEL) taking the minor places.

In the Under 19, Noé SCHEEN (BEL) took the crown, ahead of John-Luc MAGDITS (AUT) and Melina SCHEEN (BEL).

TFC Mattersburg (AUT) took the team event, ahead of Subbuteo Team Stembert (BEL),  TSG Rain (GER), BSC Schwalbach (GER) and TSC Phoenix (AUT).

A massive thanks to all players, referees and officials and a special thanks to organiser Panagiotis Krommydas for his efforts.

Valetta SC capped off a great weekend at the England GP when they won the team’s event at the England GP with a 2-0 win over Austria’s TSC Royal 78 Kaisermühlen.
The previous day, team member Derek Conti won the Open event, Jurgen Balzan won the U19 and Sam Bartolo was a semifinalist in the Opens.
In the team final, with two tight 2-2 draws, it was down to Jurgen Balzan, the recent recipient of a SportMalta youth development grant, to push his team forward with a 3-0 win against Eliot Bellefontaine.
Samuel Bartolo got the other win with a 1-0 result against Alexander Haas.

Well done to all players and referees, and especially to the organisers.

The Napoli Fighters overcame Salternitana 2-1 to win the International Open of Rome.

In the Individual events, Mattia Ferrante of ASCT Sessana 1982 claimed the U15 title, Mattia Trevisani of Subbito Gol Ferrara won the U12, while Luca Battista of Napoli Fighters took the Open with a 2-1 win over
clubmate Andrew Ciccarelli.
In the Veterans, Pasquale Torano (Leonessa 2004 Brescia) won 3-1 against Simone Trivelli  (SS Lazio TFC Roma).
